The extensive utility infrastructure renovation works carried out by Pilllar Contractor have been completed at the Opera

Energy efficiency improvement and engineering systems renovation works have been completed at the Latvian National Opera.
The scope of work was particularly extensive. During the project, more than 40 kilometres of electrical wiring, approximately four kilometres of heating pipes, three kilometres of cold and hot water pipes, as well as more than a kilometre of sewage pipes were installed. Wall and ceiling surfaces were also restored, and lighting fixtures appropriate to the historic interior were installed. As a result, the microclimate, energy efficiency and working environment of the historic building have been significantly improved.
In addition to the works planned in the project, the restoration of the historic interior on the building’s parterre level is still ongoing, with the interior being gradually restored with special care – applying wallpaper and laying floor tiles. Full completion of these works is planned by the beginning of the new season.
The aim of the project is to preserve and develop an important cultural heritage site – the historic building of the Latvian National Opera, an architectural monument of national significance – while improving its energy efficiency and ensuring sustainable operation in the future. During the renovation of the building, special attention was paid to preserving historical authenticity, respecting the original materials, technologies and historical construction methods.
The implementation of the project is financed from European Union programmes, as well as from the own funds of the State LLC “Latvian National Opera and Ballet”.
The costs of the Latvian National Opera building development project amounted to 12.5 million euros.
