Pillar Contractor wins third place in the design competition for the best solution for the development of AB Dam.

Pillar Contractor has successfully participated in the design competition organized by Riga City Council for the best solution for the development of AB Dam. The aim of the competition was to promote the development of the Daugava waterfront while integrating symbols of national identity and statehood into the urban environment, as well as honoring the memory of the first President of Latvia, Jānis Čakste. The competition jury notes that the greatest advantage of Pillar Contractor’s design is its simplicity and purity, which resonate with J. Čakste’s personality and values and encourage every visitor to reflect in solitude on their own potential as a statesman. The authors succeeded in creating a tastefully Latvian landscape and making AB Dam significantly greener and more unified. The Pillar Contractor project was developed by landscape architects Ieva Šakale and Elīna Kārkliņa, architects Uldis Lauža, Sniedze Bazēna and Mārtiņš Dušelis, and architectural technician Ingars Griņēvičs. The design “ČAKSTE’S PATH”, prepared by the team, won 3rd place in the competition and a prize of EUR 3,000. First place was awarded to the design prepared by the company RUUME, while second place went to the proposal by ĒTER.
