Pillar Contractor and AmberStone Hotels receive awards at the “Best Building of the Year 2023” competition

On Thursday, 22 August, Pillar Contractor reaped the laurels in several nominations at the competition “Best Building of the Year in Latvia 2023”. The competition took place for the 26th time, honoring 38 outstanding construction projects completed last year in eight nominations.
In the Residential New Building nomination, 1st place was won by the residential building developed by Pillar Living and built by Pillar Contractor at Sergeja Eizenšteina Street 47A, or Pillar Mežciema mājas, leaving behind the projects implemented by the companies Bonava and Merks.
In the Public New Building nomination, second place went to New Hanza offices at Mihaila Tāla Street 1, which were developed by Pillar Capital and built by the company Pillar Contractor.
In the Reconstruction and Restoration nomination, third place went to the hotel developed by AmberStone Hotels in Old Riga, Konventa Sēta Hotel at Kalēju Street 9/11, whose builder was also Pillar Contractor.
Meanwhile, in the BIM Object nomination, recognition and awards were won by two projects implemented by Pillar at once: New Hanza offices won first place, while Pillar Mežciema mājas received a Certificate of Recognition.
For the third year already, the competition presented the Landscape Person award, which this year was earned by the landscape creators of the New Hanza quarter developed by Pillar Capital, among whom are also employees of Pillar Property Management.
Nearly fifty industry professionals on the jury evaluated 70 projects from all regions of Latvia in eight categories. The experts visited all the buildings in person, and assessed more than half of them in the final of the competition through presentations by architects, builders, and clients.
The awards are received by the building’s client, general contractor, project author, and construction supervisor.
The competition Best Building of the Year in Latvia, organized by the Latvian Builders Association and the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers in cooperation with 23 professional public organizations and industry institutions, was held for the 26th time this year.
The partners of the competition organizers are 16 non-governmental organizations in the construction sector, the State Construction Control Bureau, the state joint-stock company State Real Estate, the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments, Riga Technical University, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Riga Building College, RISEBA FAD, and the industry magazine Būvinženieris.
