The Olaine Training Centre built by Pillar Contractor has been commissioned
On 29 November, the Olaine Training Centre, built by Pillar Contractor for officials and employees of the prison system, was commissioned.
The training centre is located in the territory adjacent to Olaine Prison. The building’s total area is 3,824.6 m2. It includes not only training rooms for correctional service personnel, but also a conference hall, a prison system museum, a book repository and reading room, service accommodation, as well as sports and practical training rooms, training cells and a shooting range. The training centre will be able to train 150 employees at the same time. It is planned that it will also play an important role in the process of preparing staff for the new Liepāja Prison, providing a training environment and infrastructure suitable for the new resocialization system.
“During the implementation of the project, we faced several challenges, including discrepancies between the initial project solutions and the actual situation on site. It was also necessary to make technical solution clarifications and proposals from the builder, Pillar Contractor, which made it possible to successfully adapt to the circumstances and ensure an optimal result. It should be especially emphasized that, within this project, the team gained new knowledge and experience while working on the implementation of technical solutions for the shooting range, as well as the creation of the conference and training classrooms. The construction of the premises required particular attention to precision, acoustics and compliance with safety requirements, which provided an opportunity to learn about and apply appropriate technical solutions,” says Pillar Contractor Project Manager Deniss Kamuškovs.
The successful implementation of the project is the result of close cooperation and the work of the entire Pillar Contractor project management team. All parties involved worked with a high level of responsibility and professionalism, ensuring successful project coordination, alignment of solutions, and an appropriate quality of work.
The establishment of the Olaine Training Centre took place with the support of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The construction of the facility was carried out by Pillar Contractor in accordance with the signed contract for 7,395,137.40 euros (excluding VAT), of which 85% is Norwegian grant funding and 15% is funding from the Latvian state budget.
