“Pillar Contractor” has begun construction of the new Olaine Training Centre
Pillar Contractor, SIA, the real estate design and construction company owned by AmberStone Group, AS, has begun construction of the Olaine Training Centre to provide employees of the Prison Administration with the opportunity to learn in premises suited to the specifics of their work, using improved training content and new teaching methods for acquiring professional knowledge.
The Training Centre building will cover approximately 2,500 square metres and will include not only training rooms for employees, but also a conference hall, a museum of the prison system, a library, a reading room, service accommodation, as well as sports and practical training rooms. The Training Centre will be able to train 150 employees at the same time. The Olaine Training Centre will open its doors in the first half of 2024 and will also play an important role in the process of training employees for the new Liepāja Prison, providing a learning environment and infrastructure appropriate for the new resocialization system.
The construction of the Training Centre is being implemented within the framework of the Prison Administration project “Establishment of the Training Centre infrastructure and a model prison block intended for training on the territory of Olaine Prison” No. 1-6.4/2-2019, with financial support from Norwegian Grants.
SIA “Pillar Contractor” is carrying out the construction of the facility in accordance with the concluded contract for 6,364,029.82 euros (excluding VAT), of which 85% is funding from the Norwegian government, or Norwegian Grants, while 15% is funding from the Latvian state budget.
