Reconstructed hotel Konventa Sēta

Reconstructed hotel Konventa Sēta

In July of this year, the reconstruction of the Konventa Sēta hotel was fully completed. It was carried out in three stages and lasted a total of 6 years. In all, the hotel complex consists of 9 buildings, which house 161 high-class rooms and 4 conference halls. The beer restaurant Two More Beers is also located on the hotel’s ground floor, delighting guests with delicious meals and more than 120 different types of beer. Meanwhile, visitors are treated to freshly baked cruffins by the Cruffins bakery, opened in August of this year, which has already gained great popularity among visitors to Riga and local residents.

When creating the hotel’s new interior, a new layout was introduced, a major interior renovation was carried out, and internal engineering networks were rebuilt, such as electrical networks, heating, ventilation, cooling, water supply, sewage systems, and the like. The façades of all buildings were also restored, and ramp access was built for people with special needs.

Since the building complex contains evidence of antiquity dating back to the 14th century, a major challenge was to combine the construction of modern engineering networks with historical elements, such as the city’s ancient defensive wall, which forms one of the building’s walls. Solutions had to be found for creating modern ceiling lighting and installing ventilation and air-conditioning systems without damaging the historic parts of the building. However, thanks to the architectural offices “Palasta arhitekts” and “Vilnis Mičulis un Architects,” as well as the contractors from Pillar Contractor, SIA, optimal solutions were found for all the challenges.

As part of the reconstruction, the hotel’s inner courtyard was also improved and all utilities were replaced, and landscaping infrastructure was built – from new soil to an irrigation system. For example, both historic Swedish cobblestones and granite paving stones specially brought from China were combined for the paths. In the plantings, alongside new plants and trees imported from Germany, historic herbs and medicinal plants were also included, such as dill, chives, garlic, etc.

Taking into account the specific nature of the buildings, their location, and the high-quality equipment and materials, the hotel renovation costs reached 14 million euros.
