Topping-out ceremony celebrated in Ventspils for the Pillar Contractor project
On 25 July, a topping-out ceremony was held in Ventspils for the new apartment buildings.
Construction of the two five-storey residential buildings at 122 Saules Street began in April of this year. The construction work has progressed smoothly and according to schedule, so, in keeping with an old tradition, this milestone was specially marked by raising a topping-out wreath above the new building.
To ensure that construction proceeds smoothly and that blessings dwell in the new homes being built, the project developers and builders were warmly celebrated in song by the true voices of Kurzeme – the Suiti women. Unwinding a ball of yarn, they invited everyone to weave good thoughts and wishes for the future homes into the thread.
Jānis Lāčaunieks, Chairman of the Board of Pillar Contractor, the designer and builder of the buildings, said that one of the most important stages of the building construction has been completed and it is now possible to assess what has already been accomplished: “It is gratifying to see that the construction work is proceeding in accordance with the originally developed plan, which demonstrates the professional and cohesive work of all parties involved. There is still much to be done, and I am confident that this project is on track for successful completion, and by mid-2026 we will already be able to celebrate its full completion together.”
“I think many residents of Ventspils, driving past every day, can hardly believe the pace at which these buildings have risen. If you remember, it was only in May that we embedded the capsule in the foundations, and now the main building structures have already been assembled and we can celebrate the traditional topping-out ceremony,” said the project client Jānis Vītoliņš, Chairman of the Ventspils State City Municipal Council, addressing the guests of the event.
The two new five-storey apartment buildings will together contain 60 rental apartments with full interior finishing. Construction is planned to be completed in summer 2026.
